The Catskill Region’s centralized location to major commerce centers in the Northeast, and its well developed transportation infrastructure make it a perfect place to locate your business.
The area is ideally situated to serve Northeast markets by ground transportation, with its access to a major North-South (I-87) and East-West (I-84) interstate highway nearby.
Moving goods by rail is another option the region has to offer with access to commercial rail. New York is the rail crossroads for the Northeast and has over 4,000 miles of passenger and freight lines in the State, and direct access to Canada.
The region is also served by two large regional airports, Albany International and Stewart located in Newburgh. Both Airports offer several carriers and private air freight companies.
Port facilities in Albany and New York City, along with the current development of a deep water facility in Greene County, offers another transportation option to reach national and international clients.
The Catskill Region is served by three utilities depending on the area you are in. Those three are New York State Electric & Gas, Central Hudson Gas & Electric, and National Grid. However, New York State allows customers to choose an alternate supplier who has been approved by the Department of Public Service to provide gas and electric service. Several suppliers do offer green energy purchases, and incentives are available for installation of clean energy technologies such as wind and solar.
